SEN Teaching Assistant – Birmingham & Sandwell

About the role
Hays Education is partnering with mainstream schools across Birmingham and Sandwell to provide specialist SEN Teaching Assistant support. The role involves working on a temporary or long‑term basis, either full‑time or part‑time, to assist children with specific educational needs.
Key responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 or small‑group support to children with SEN in classroom settings.
- Assist pupils diagnosed with Autism, ADHD, Down Syndrome, Global Delay and those displaying challenging behaviours.
- Adapt support to the individual needs of each child and maintain consistency throughout the placement.
- Collaborate with teachers and school staff to implement personalised learning plans.
- Travel between schools in Birmingham and Sandwell, using public transport or personal vehicle when required.
Required profile
- Previous SEN experience in a childcare environment such as schools, nurseries or social‑care settings.
- Demonstrated ability to work with children who have Autism, ADHD, Down Syndrome, Global Delay or challenging behaviours.
- Flexibility to commit to supporting a child for the duration required.
- Reliable transport is advantageous but not mandatory.
