SEN Teaching Assistant – Chelmsford (Full‑Time, Term‑Time)

About the role

We are seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join our specialist school in Chelmsford. This full‑time, term‑time position offers the chance to support children with a range of special educational needs and help them achieve their full potential.

Key responsibilities

• Support pupils with Autism, ADHD, speech and language needs, and SEMH.
• Assist teachers in delivering engaging, differentiated lessons.
• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support in line with individual education plans.
• Encourage independence, confidence and positive behaviour.
• Offer personal care assistance where required.
• Help maintain a safe, positive and stimulating learning environment.
• Build strong relationships with pupils, families and colleagues.
• Record and report on pupil progress and wellbeing.

Required profile

• Experience working with children or young people with SEND (preferred but not essential).
• Patient, caring, resilient and adaptable.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to stay calm under pressure and respond positively to challenges.
• Genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting child welfare.
• GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
