SEN Teaching Assistant – Daily Rate £95‑£115

About the role
This temporary full‑time position supports children with a wide range of special educational needs in a specialist school in East Sussex. You will work primarily on a one‑to‑one basis, helping pupils develop academically and personally in a supportive environment.
Key responsibilities
- Provide one‑to‑one assistance to children with SEN, including ASD, SLD, PMLD and emotional‑behavioural needs.
- Facilitate academic tasks and personal growth activities.
- Deliver personal care and support as required.
- Collaborate with teachers and support staff to create a positive learning atmosphere.
- Participate in a paid trial period to demonstrate capability.
Required profile
- A genuine passion for special education.
- Flexible, proactive and patient attitude.
- Strong team communication skills.
- Resilience and willingness to go beyond basic duties.
- Background in education, care or psychology is beneficial.
Required skills
- Experience or willingness to learn non‑verbal communication methods such as Makaton.
- Familiarity with PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System).
