SEN Teaching Assistant – Full‑Time (Newham)

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming mainstream primary school in Newham, East London. The role starts in September 2026 and provides full‑time, 1:1 support to a pupil with Special Educational Needs, helping them succeed academically and socially.

Key responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 assistance to a pupil with SEN throughout the school day.
• Implement personalised learning strategies in collaboration with the class teacher and SENCO.
• Promote emotional regulation, confidence and positive behaviour.
• Support learning across EYFS, KS1 or KS2 as required.
• Work closely with teachers, parents and external professionals to achieve EHCP outcomes.
• Encourage independence, communication and social skills both inside and outside the classroom.

Required profile

• Minimum of one year experience supporting children in a school setting.
• Experience with pupils who have Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, speech and language or behavioural needs.
• Strong behaviour management abilities.
• Patient, resilient and able to build trusting relationships.

Required skills

• Knowledge of SEN strategies and interventions.
• Ability to deliver personalised support aligned with EHCP targets.
