SEN Teaching Assistant – Graduate Role (Psychology/Criminology/Sociology)

About the role

We are looking for a recent graduate in Psychology, Criminology or Sociology to join a specialist SEN school in Crawley as a Teaching Assistant. The role provides hands‑on experience supporting pupils with autism, SEMH and other additional needs, and is ideal for those considering careers in educational or clinical psychology, mental health or youth justice.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support to pupils with SEN.
• Assist with emotional regulation, behaviour management and engagement in learning.
• Support personalised learning plans and behaviour strategies.
• Observe, record and report on pupil progress and wellbeing.
• Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils.
• Help maintain a safe, structured and supportive environment.
• Provide personal care where required.

Required profile

• Degree in Psychology, Criminology or Sociology.
• Strong interest in mental health, child development and behaviour.
• Patient, resilient and empathetic approach.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proactive and reflective mindset.
• Experience working with children or vulnerable individuals (desirable).
• Right to work in the UK.
