SEN Teaching Assistant

About the role

A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Islington is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant. You will support pupils with Special Educational Needs on a 1:1 basis and in small groups, helping them access learning, build confidence and make positive academic and social progress.

Key responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small‑group SEN support.
• Support pupils' academic, social and emotional development.
• Encourage independence, confidence and positive behaviour.
• Assist with classroom activities and targeted interventions.
• Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO.
• Help create a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment.

Required profile

• GCSE English & Maths (Grade C/4 or above).
• Experience working with children or within an SEN setting.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Desirable: Experience with ASD, ADHD, SEMH, speech & language needs.
• Desirable: Teaching Assistant experience in a school.
• Desirable: Degree in Psychology, Education or related subject.
