SEN Teaching Assistant

About the role

Hays Education is recruiting on behalf of a welcoming primary school in Salford for a full‑time SEN Teaching Assistant. The role starts in September and supports pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs within a brand‑new specialist provision.

Key responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small‑group support for pupils with ASD and SEMH.
• Assist in delivering personalised learning and intervention programmes.
• Support pupils with emotional regulation, behaviour and social development.
• Collaborate closely with teachers, SENCOs and external professionals.
• Build positive relationships with pupils and help create a safe, inclusive environment.

Required profile

• Experience working with children with SEN, particularly ASD and/or SEMH.
• Calm, patient and resilient approach to supporting behaviour and emotional needs.
• Strong communication and relationship‑building skills.
• Experience within a school, specialist setting or care environment is desirable.
• Genuine passion for helping children reach their full potential.
