SEN Teaching Assistant – One-to-One Support

About the role

The Supply Register is looking for a compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to provide one‑to‑one support for a female student with ADHD at Dixons Croxteth Academy in Liverpool. This full‑time, long‑term position involves helping the student access learning, regulate emotions and engage positively within the school environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one assistance to the student, supporting classwork access and lesson engagement.
• Use calm, patient, proactive strategies to manage challenging behaviour and de‑escalate situations.
• Collaborate closely with teaching staff and the SENCO to implement tailored interventions.
• Maintain a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment.
• Record observations and contribute to the student’s support plan as required.
• Promote positive relationships, emotional regulation and resilience.

Required profile

• Experience working with children with SEN, particularly ADHD or behavioural needs.
• Strong behaviour management and de‑escalation abilities.
• Ability to build trusting relationships with students.
• Resilience, patience and calmness under pressure.
• Commitment to safeguarding and student welfare.
• Relevant qualifications (e.g., TA, SEN, behaviour training) are desirable but not essential.
