SEN Teaching Assistant – Part‑time (Great Barr)

About the role
We are looking for enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistants to support pupils with special educational needs in schools across Great Barr and surrounding areas. The role offers flexible, part‑time assignments ranging from day‑to‑day supply to short‑term and long‑term placements.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver one‑to‑one learning sessions tailored to each pupil’s SEND requirements.
- Assist pupils with communication, social development and classroom participation.
- Collaborate closely with the SENDCO and class teachers to implement personalised learning plans.
- Provide personal care support when needed, demonstrating patience and compassion.
Required profile
- Previous experience supporting children with SEND in a school or similar setting.
- Enhanced DBS check (must be on the update service).
- Relevant qualifications or demonstrable experience in SEND support.
- Willingness to undertake additional training as required.
Required skills
- Understanding of SEND policies and best practices.
- Ability to create and adapt learning materials for diverse needs.
- Strong communication skills with pupils, teachers and support staff.
