SEN Teaching Assistant – Primary (Bolton)

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a mainstream primary school in Bolton. The role starts in September and offers a long‑term, full‑time position supporting pupils with additional needs.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support for pupils with Autism, ADHD, SEMH and communication needs.
• Assist the class teacher, SENCO and wider school team in delivering inclusive lessons.
• Support emotional regulation, routines and positive behaviour strategies.
• Encourage confidence, independence and engagement in classroom activities.
• Promote pupils’ social, emotional and academic development.

Required profile

• Proven experience supporting children or young people with SEN/SEND.
• Calm, patient and resilient approach to challenging behaviour.
• Strong communication and relationship‑building abilities.
• Genuine interest in education and supporting vulnerable learners.

Required skills

• Ability to deliver tailored support to pupils with diverse needs.
• Knowledge of strategies for autism, ADHD, SEMH and communication difficulties.
• Effective classroom management and behaviour support techniques.
