SEN Teaching Assistant – Primary School (Chatham)

About the role

We are looking for a caring and patient SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Chatham. The role starts in September 2026 and focuses on providing one‑to‑one support to a Key Stage 2 pupil with additional learning needs, helping them access the curriculum and build confidence.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver personalised 1:1 support to a lower‑ability KS2 pupil.
• Collaborate closely with the class teacher and SENCO to tailor learning activities.
• Assist the pupil in accessing the curriculum and achieving set targets.
• Promote a positive, inclusive learning environment.
• Monitor progress and report observations to senior staff.

Required profile

• Experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs, preferably in a primary setting.
• Confidence in providing one‑to‑one assistance for a KS2 pupil.
• Patience, nurturing attitude and ability to build strong relationships with pupils.
• Team‑player who can also work independently and take initiative.
• Commitment to inclusion and pupil progress.
