SEN Teaching Assistant – Primary School (Enfield)

About the role

Tradewind Recruitment is partnering with primary schools in Enfield to place experienced SEN Teaching Assistants on immediate and ongoing assignments. The role provides one‑to‑one or small‑group support for pupils with a range of special educational needs and disabilities, working closely with class teachers, the SENCO and external specialists.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver one‑to‑one or small‑group support for pupils with SEND.
• Adapt resources and use agreed strategies and communication tools.
• Track pupil progress against EHCP targets.
• Help pupils access the wider curriculum alongside their peers.
• Collaborate with class teachers, SENCO and external specialists.

Required profile

• Proven experience supporting pupils with SEND in a primary school setting.
• Knowledge of a range of SEND needs, including ASC, ADHD, SLCN and SEMH.
• Familiarity with EHC plans and delivering support in line with EHCP targets.
• Experience using alternative communication strategies (e.g., Makaton, PECS, visual timetables).
• Patient, consistent and nurturing approach.
• Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent (desirable).
• Enhanced DBS and up‑to‑date safeguarding training.
