About the role
We are supporting a primary school in Leeds that provides education for children aged 5‑11 with a range of special educational needs. As a SEN Teaching Assistant you will work closely with teachers and other professionals to help pupils access a rich, engaging curriculum tailored to their individual needs. You will collaborate with teaching staff and external specialists to ensure each child receives the support they need to thrive socially, emotionally and academically.
Key responsibilities
- Support pupils on a 1:1 basis or in small groups with learning and development.
- Assist in delivering personalised learning plans.
- Help pupils build confidence, communication and independence.
- Manage behaviour positively and inclusively.
- Maintain a safe, caring and supportive learning environment.
- Provide assistance with classroom activities and resources.
- Monitor and record pupil progress and share feedback with teachers.
- Support the implementation of behaviour management strategies.
Required profile
- Experience working with children with SEN, particularly MLD, ASD or communication difficulties (highly desirable).
- Calm, patient and empathetic approach.
- Genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
- Commitment to safeguarding and child protection policies.
