SEN Teaching Assistant – Primary School (Part‑time)

About the role

This permanent, part‑time position supports a mainstream primary school in East Grinstead. You will work closely with class teachers to help pupils in Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, with a particular focus on children who have SEND. The role starts in September 2026 and runs term‑time only.

Key responsibilities

• Support teaching and learning across the classroom.
• Provide targeted assistance to pupils, especially those with SEND.
• Promote positive behaviour in line with school policies.
• Help maintain a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment.
• Assist with classroom organisation, preparation, and resources.
• Observe and report on pupil progress.
• Support communication between staff, pupils, and parents.
• Contribute positively to the wider life and ethos of the school.
• Undertake lunchtime supervision duties.

Required profile

• Genuine passion for working with children.
• Motivated, proactive, and energetic.
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and colleagues.
• Good literacy, numeracy, and communication skills.
• Calm, patient, and adaptable.
• Commitment to inclusion and safeguarding.
• Relevant childcare or education qualification (Level 2/3) or willingness to work towards one.
• GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
• Experience working with children in an educational setting.
