SEN Teaching Assistant – Primary School (Plymouth)

About the role
We are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist provision within a primary school in Plymouth. The role focuses on supporting children with complex needs, including autism spectrum disorder (ASD), social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) challenges, and physical disabilities. You will work closely with teachers to deliver personalised learning experiences and promote inclusive education.
Key responsibilities
- Support pupils with ASD, SEMH and physical needs throughout the school day.
- Assist in the planning and delivery of individualised learning programmes.
- Use creative, engaging approaches to facilitate learning and participation.
- Provide emotional regulation strategies and behavioural support as required.
- Collaborate with teaching staff and external professionals to monitor progress.
Required profile
- Experience in care, support work, or special educational needs (SEN) settings.
- Calm under pressure with a positive, proactive attitude.
- Ability to build trusting relationships with pupils and staff.
- Strong teamwork skills and a commitment to inclusive practice.
