SEN Teaching Assistant – Primary School (Term‑time)

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming secondary school in Taunton from September 2026. The role is term‑time only, full‑time, and focuses on supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs in both one‑to‑one and small‑group settings.

Key responsibilities

• Support pupils with Autism, ADHD, speech and language needs, and SEMH under the guidance of the class teacher and SENCO.
• Deliver tailored interventions and learning activities to help pupils access the curriculum.
• Build positive relationships to encourage engagement, confidence and academic progress.
• Monitor and record pupil progress, providing feedback to teaching staff.
• Assist with behaviour management and emotional regulation strategies when required.

Required profile

• Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN (education, care, youth work or support work backgrounds considered).
• Patient, nurturing and adaptable approach.
• Strong communication and relationship‑building skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Right to work in the UK and willingness to obtain an enhanced DBS.
