SEN Teaching Assistant – Primary School (Watford)

About the role
We are looking for a nurturing and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming mainstream primary school in Watford. You will provide consistent 1:1 and in‑class support for pupils with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and other additional needs, helping them stay engaged, regulate emotions, and access the curriculum.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver tailored 1:1 and classroom support for pupils with ASD and other special educational needs.
- Implement strategies that promote learning, behaviour management, and emotional regulation.
- Collaborate closely with the class teacher and SENCO to adapt lesson materials and activities.
- Build trusting, professional relationships with pupils, families, and staff.
- Monitor academic progress and wellbeing throughout the school day.
Required profile
- Proven experience working in an SEN setting, especially 1:1 support.
- Confidence supporting pupils with ASD and a range of additional needs.
- Calm, patient, and consistent approach to behaviour and learning support.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Reliability, adaptability, and commitment to long‑term support roles.
