SEN Teaching Assistant – Primary Schools

About the role

Prospero Teaching is seeking enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistants to support pupils with Special Educational Needs in primary schools across Bristol. This full‑time, contract‑based position offers recent graduates or individuals with SEN experience the chance to gain hands‑on classroom experience and develop specialist support skills.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one or small‑group support for students with SEN.
• Assist in delivering tailored learning activities that meet individual needs.
• Support literacy, numeracy and communication development.
• Help manage behaviour and promote positive engagement.
• Build supportive relationships to boost pupil confidence and independence.
• Assist the class teacher with lesson preparation and classroom management.

Required profile

• Motivated graduate or candidate with relevant SEN experience.
• Strong interest in working with children with autism, ADHD, dyslexia, speech and language difficulties, or moderate learning difficulties.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patient, empathetic and adaptable approach.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
• Right to work in the UK.
