SEN Teaching Assistant – Primary & Secondary Schools

About the role
Prospero Teaching is seeking compassionate and resilient SEN Teaching Assistants to support pupils with additional needs in primary and secondary schools across Wimborne and the wider Dorset area. The role offers a rewarding environment where you will help children overcome behavioural, communication and learning barriers.
Key responsibilities
- Provide personalised 1:1 or small‑group support for pupils with a range of SEN needs.
- Assist with creative and therapeutic activities to promote engagement and emotional well‑being.
- Support emotional regulation and encourage independence.
- Promote safety and positive behaviour in line with school policies.
- Build strong relationships with pupils, staff and families through consistent communication.
Required profile
- Right to work in the UK.
- Enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
- Professional references covering the last 24 months.
- Level 2/3 qualification in childcare, education or related field, or equivalent experience supporting children or vulnerable individuals.
Required skills
- Experience supporting children with additional needs.
- Ability to deliver therapeutic and creative activities.
- Strong communication and relationship‑building skills.
