SEN Teaching Assistant – Secondary School (Salford)

About the role

Are you an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant looking for your next opportunity in a secondary school? Tradewind Recruitment is working with a secondary school in Salford that seeks a dedicated and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join their support team. This role is ideal for someone with mainstream secondary experience who wants to make a genuine difference to the education of young people with additional needs.

Key responsibilities

• Support pupils with SEN in lessons and through small‑group interventions.
• Help pupils access and engage with the curriculum.
• Support students with their social, emotional and behavioural development.
• Work closely with teaching staff and the SENCO.
• Build positive relationships with pupils and encourage independence.
• Assist pupils with needs such as ASD, ADHD, SEMH and communication difficulties.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a SEN TA, Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant.
• Experience working within a mainstream secondary school.
• Experience supporting pupils with additional needs.
• A calm, patient and resilient approach.
• Strong communication and relationship‑building skills.
• A genuine passion for supporting young people.
