SEN Teaching Assistant – SEMH Support in Portsmouth

About the role

We are looking for a compassionate and committed SEN Teaching Assistant to support students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs in a supportive Portsmouth school. This full‑time, term‑time position offers the chance to make a meaningful difference in pupils' lives.

Key responsibilities

• Support students with SEMH needs in both classroom and one‑to‑one settings.
• Assist teachers in delivering tailored learning plans and strategies.
• Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
• Build positive relationships and offer consistent emotional support.
• Support students' social, emotional, and behavioural development.

Required profile

• Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs (highly desirable).
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Calm, patient, and empathetic approach.
• Confident driver with access to a vehicle (essential).
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Strong commitment to safeguarding and child welfare.
