SEN Teaching Assistant – Specialist ASD Support (Barnet)

About the role
We are seeking three compassionate SEN Teaching Assistants to support secondary‑aged students with Autism Spectrum Disorder in a specialist provision in High Barnet. You will work closely with teachers, therapists and other professionals to deliver personalised support and help students thrive academically and socially.
Key responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small‑group support for students with ASD.
- Assist students with communication, emotional regulation and engagement in learning.
- Implement strategies linked to EHCPs and individual learning plans.
- Promote independence, confidence and positive social interaction.
- Create a safe, structured and inclusive learning environment throughout the school day.
Required profile
- Experience supporting children or young people with ASD.
- Background as a Support Worker, Youth Worker, SEN Teaching Assistant, Care Worker or Healthcare Assistant.
- Patient, resilient and understanding approach.
- Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
- Genuine passion for supporting young people with Special Educational Needs.
- Understanding of safeguarding and behaviour support strategies.
Required skills
