About the role

We are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support students with severe autism and complex needs in a specialist school in Newham, East London. The role involves delivering one‑to‑one and small‑group support to help pupils develop communication, social and life skills.

Key responsibilities

• Provide individualized and small‑group assistance to students with severe autism.
• Support the development of communication, social interaction and daily living skills.
• Facilitate sensory and creative learning activities.
• Manage challenging behaviour calmly and confidently.
• Deliver personal care when required.
• Collaborate closely with teachers, therapists and other support staff.

Required profile

• Previous experience supporting children or young people with special educational needs.
• Energetic, active and comfortable in a fast‑paced environment.
• Confident in handling challenging behaviour.
• Patient, resilient, caring and reliable.
