SEN Teaching Assistant – Specialist Secondary Provision

About the role
We are recruiting a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a well‑established specialist secondary provision for students aged 11‑16 with a range of additional needs. The school supports pupils with autism, speech and language difficulties, moderate learning difficulties and social, emotional and mental health needs, all of whom have Education, Health and Care Plans.
Key responsibilities
- Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support both inside and outside the classroom.
- Assist students with behaviour, emotional regulation and communication needs.
- Help deliver adapted lessons and engaging learning activities.
- Support the development of independence and essential life‑skills.
- Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils.
- Implement EHCP targets and individual learning plans.
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, SENCO and other professionals.
- Maintain a safe, consistent and inclusive learning environment.
Required profile
- Experience supporting SEN in education, care or support work.
- Understanding of autism, communication needs or SEMH (desirable).
- Calm, patient and adaptable approach.
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
- Genuine passion for making a difference.
