SEN Teaching Assistant – Specialist SEND School (Witham)

About the role
We are partnering with a specialist free school in Witham that provides education for pupils aged 4‑19 with autism and complex learning needs. The school delivers highly personalised programmes focused on communication, independence and functional life skills.
Key responsibilities
- Support pupils with autism, learning disabilities and communication needs on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
- Assist the class teacher in delivering tailored learning activities.
- Encourage development of social, emotional and independence skills.
- Promote positive behaviour and engagement using structured approaches.
- Adapt activities to meet sensory needs.
- Collaborate with therapists, teachers and support staff.
- Help maintain a safe, calm and engaging learning environment.
Required profile
- Experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities or SEND.
- Patient, resilient and nurturing attitude.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Passion for supporting children and young people with additional needs.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
