SEN Teaching Assistant – Support Autism Students

About the role

We are looking for a confident SEN Teaching Assistant to join our inclusive secondary school’s Autism Resource Base in Plymouth. You will work directly with students who have Autism Spectrum Condition, helping them develop independence and reach their academic potential.

Key responsibilities

• Support students with Autism Spectrum Condition in classroom settings.
• Adapt classroom materials and teaching methods to meet individual learning needs.
• Assist students in managing routines, transitions, and sensory requirements.
• Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation.

Required profile

• Experience working with ASD or managing challenging behaviour.
• Strong behaviour management skills.
• Resilient, calm and adaptable in dynamic classroom environments.
• A genuine passion for supporting young people with additional needs.

Required skills

• Team Teach or similar behaviour management training (desirable).
• Previous experience in a school‑based setting (desirable).
