SEN Teaching Assistant – Support for Autism & SEMH

About the role
Join a specialist educational setting in Birmingham where you will provide dedicated support to young people with Autism Spectrum Condition, Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs, and challenging behaviour. This full‑time, temporary position offers the chance to make a tangible difference in the lives of students who have an Education, Health and Care Plan.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver 1:1 and small‑group assistance to pupils with additional needs.
- Support students with ASC, SEMH and behavioural challenges both inside and outside the classroom.
- Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation and independence.
- Assist teachers in planning and delivering differentiated lessons.
- Collaborate with therapists, parents and other professionals to monitor progress.
- Contribute to a safe, inclusive and nurturing learning environment.
Required profile
- Experience working with children or young people with SEN, ASC, SEMH or behavioural needs (desirable).
- Background in education, youth work, care, support work or sports coaching (advantageous).
- Calm, patient and resilient approach.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Proactive, adaptable and passionate about supporting vulnerable youth.
