SEN Teaching Assistant – Support Pupils with SEND

About the role
We are seeking experienced SEN Teaching Assistants to join schools across Sunderland. You will work in nurturing environments, providing dedicated support to pupils with a range of additional needs and helping them thrive academically, socially and emotionally.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver 1:1 and small‑group support for pupils with SEND.
- Collaborate with teachers and SENDCOs to implement personalised learning plans.
- Encourage pupil engagement and participation in classroom activities.
- Support the social, emotional and academic development of each child.
- Monitor, record and report progress against individual targets.
Required profile
- Proven experience supporting children with SEND.
- Patient, adaptable and strong communication skills.
- Genuine passion for helping young people succeed.
- Willingness to travel across Sunderland and surrounding areas.
- Driving licence beneficial but not essential.
- Enhanced DBS check on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
