SEN Teaching Assistant – Temporary Full‑Time (Manchester)

About the role
We are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support classroom teachers in Manchester. This temporary full‑time position offers hands‑on experience assisting students with special educational needs and challenging behaviour.
Key responsibilities
- Provide support to the classroom teacher in delivering lessons and managing student behaviour.
- Assist with the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for SEN students.
- Offer reading and writing support to pupils requiring additional assistance.
- Help maintain classroom discipline and encourage positive behaviour.
- Deliver 1:1 or group interventions.
- Monitor and record students’ progress.
Required profile
- Team Teach trained or willing to undertake training (or ECT).
- Prior experience as a Teaching Assistant.
- Experience working with students with challenging behaviour and SEN.
- Experience in alternative provision or specialist school settings is beneficial.
- Strong understanding of young people with behavioural difficulties and SEN.
- Excellent behavioural management skills.
- Ability to effectively manage a classroom environment.
- Familiarity with alternative provisions and specialist schools.
