SEN Tutor for Year 8 Student (Part‑time)

About the role
Prospero Teaching is looking for a compassionate and resilient tutor to work one‑to‑one with a Year 8 student who requires alternative provision. The role is based in Dorchester and supports the learner at an upper Key Stage 2 level in Maths and English.
Key responsibilities
- Plan, prepare and deliver engaging Maths and English sessions tailored to the student’s needs.
- Assess progress, provide feedback and record weekly reports.
- Monitor attendance and maintain accurate records.
- Adapt teaching style to create a calm, encouraging and nurturing environment.
Required profile
- Minimum 1 year experience working in UK schools.
- Experience with learners who have SEN or SEMH needs (desirable but not essential).
- Empathetic, reliable and able to stay calm under pressure.
- Right to work in the UK and willingness to obtain an enhanced DBS check.
Required skills
- Confidence delivering Maths and English curriculum.
