SEN Tutor – Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH)

About the role

Quantum Scholars is looking for a patient and adaptable SEN Tutor to deliver in‑person tuition for children and young people with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs in Bridgwater. The role focuses on rebuilding confidence, encouraging engagement with education and supporting personal and academic progress.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver individualised lessons tailored to each pupil’s abilities, interests and SEMH requirements.
• Provide calm, patient support to help pupils develop resilience, confidence and positive learning habits.
• Adapt teaching approaches to promote emotional regulation and sustained engagement.
• Maintain accurate records, monitor progress and give clear feedback after each session.
• Collaborate with families, schools and external agencies, following each pupil’s education, support and risk‑management plans.
• Uphold safeguarding standards and maintain professional boundaries at all times.

Required profile

• Experience working with or teaching children and young people with SEN, particularly SEMH.
• Ability to provide calm, flexible and patient support.
• Strong communication, organisational and record‑keeping abilities.
• Clear understanding of safeguarding responsibilities.
• Willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check (or be registered with the DBS Update Service).
• Right to work in the United Kingdom and ability to travel to Bridgwater for on‑site sessions.
