SENCO & Assistant Headteacher (Permanent)

About the role

This permanent position starts in September 2026 at a specialist SEN school in Coventry. You will join a strong senior leadership team, combining the responsibilities of SENCO with those of an Assistant Headteacher to shape inclusive practice across the whole school.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and review the school’s SEN policy and provision.
• Lead the SEN team and coordinate interventions for pupils with additional needs.
• Collaborate with senior leadership, staff, parents, carers and external agencies to ensure effective support.
• Contribute to whole‑school strategic planning and decision‑making as a member of the SLT.
• Monitor pupil progress, evaluate outcomes and drive continuous improvement in SEN provision.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with proven SENCO experience.
• Demonstrated leadership experience within a SEN‑focused school.
• Strong understanding of SEN practice and day‑to‑day provision.
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills with staff, families and partners.
• Commitment to inclusion, pupil progress and school success.
