SENCO – New Specialist Autism School in St Albans (Full‑Time)

About the role

The school is a newly opened specialist provision for children aged 4‑13 with autism and related needs. As SENCO you will join the leadership team at the start of the academic year and help shape the SEND provision from day one.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate SEND provision across the school.
• Support staff with effective strategies for autism and additional needs.
• Work closely with families, external professionals and therapists.
• Oversee EHCP processes, reviews and progress tracking.
• Develop inclusive teaching approaches and assessment frameworks.

Required profile

• Holds or is working towards the NASENCO qualification.
• Experience supporting pupils with autism and complex needs.
• Strong knowledge of SEND legislation and best practice.
• Passionate about improving outcomes for children.
• Ability to lead, inspire and support colleagues.

Required skills

• Understanding of autism spectrum disorders.
• Familiarity with EHCP documentation.
• Knowledge of specialist classroom and therapy environments.
