About the role
This interim SENCO position supports a dynamic secondary school in Tower Hamlets for the Autumn term 2026, with a clear pathway to a permanent role from January 2027. The role offers a competitive daily rate and the chance to lead SEND provision in a diverse, ambitious community.
Key responsibilities
- Lead implementation and development of SEND provision in line with the SEND Code of Practice.
- Identify, assess, and support students with SEND, overseeing EHCPs and annual reviews.
- Drive high‑quality teaching and learning through coaching, mentoring, and professional development of staff.
- Monitor progress and attainment of SEND students, using data to inform interventions.
- Collaborate with parents, carers, and external agencies to ensure coordinated support.
- Manage and develop support staff delivering targeted interventions.
- Contribute to whole‑school teaching and learning initiatives.
Required profile
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a relevant degree.
- Experience working in SEND within a secondary school, ideally at SENCO level.
- NASENCo, NPQ SENCO qualification or willingness to undertake.
- Experience assessing for Exam Access Arrangements (desirable).
- Proven record of raising standards beyond the classroom.
