SEND Learning Support Assistant – Bromley

About the role

We are looking for a dedicated SEND Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist SEND school in Bromley from September 2026. The role focuses on supporting pupils with complex needs, including autism, severe and profound learning difficulties, and challenging behaviour, ensuring they can access learning and develop independence.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support for pupils with complex SEND needs.
• Assist with communication, emotional regulation, personal development and sensory interventions.
• Support behaviour management strategies and implement sensory programmes.
• Deliver personal care assistance where required.
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists and other support staff to tailor learning programmes.
• Promote a positive, inclusive and nurturing learning environment.
• Monitor, record and report pupil progress and achievements.

Required profile

• Previous experience working with children or adults with complex needs, SEND, autism or challenging behaviour.
• Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
• Ability to remain calm, patient and adaptable in a challenging environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Genuine passion for supporting vulnerable young people.
• Enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service and right to work in the UK.

Required skills

• Team Teach training
• MAPA or other positive behaviour management training
• Knowledge of PECS communication system
• Knowledge of Makaton sign language
