SEND Learning Support Assistant (LSA)

About the role

TeacherActive is seeking compassionate Learning Support Assistants to work with children and young people who have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in Basildon and surrounding schools. You will help pupils engage with learning, develop confidence, and achieve their personal goals.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support for pupils with SEND.
• Assist pupils with classroom learning, engagement, and social interaction.
• Implement individual education and behaviour plans.
• Collaborate closely with teachers, SENCOs, and other support staff.
• Maintain a calm, positive, and nurturing learning environment.
• Support pupils with challenging behaviour when required.

Required profile

• Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEND.
• Patience, resilience, and ability to build positive relationships.
• Genuine passion for helping children with additional needs.
• Reliability, adaptability, and teamwork orientation.
• Strong communication skills and commitment to safeguarding.
