SEND Learning Support Assistant – Specialist School (SE7)

About the role

We are looking for a dedicated SEND Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist SEND school in Greenwich from September 2026. The role involves supporting pupils with autism, severe and profound learning difficulties, communication challenges, sensory needs and challenging behaviour, helping them access learning and develop independence.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support for pupils with complex SEND needs.
• Assist students with communication, emotional regulation and personal development.
• Implement behaviour‑management strategies and sensory interventions.
• Support personal care requirements where necessary.
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists and support staff to deliver tailored learning programmes.
• Promote a positive, inclusive and nurturing learning environment.
• Monitor and record pupil progress and achievements.

Required profile

• Previous experience working with children or adults with complex needs, SEND, autism, learning disabilities or challenging behaviour.
• Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
• Ability to remain calm, patient and adaptable in a challenging environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Genuine passion for supporting vulnerable young people.
• Enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service and right to work in the UK.
