SEND Learning Support Assistant – Sports Coaching Experience

About the role

We are looking for a dedicated SEND Learning Support Assistant to join a SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) school in Abbeywood, Bexley. The role combines academic support with sports‑based activities to help children with special educational needs develop emotionally, socially and physically.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the lead teacher in delivering tailored educational activities.
• Use sports and physical exercises to engage students and support their emotional wellbeing.
• Maintain a safe, inclusive classroom environment.
• Monitor student progress and adapt strategies as needed.
• Collaborate with staff on lesson planning and classroom management.
• Participate in training sessions focused on SEMH needs.

Required profile

• Experience in sports coaching or leading physical activities with children.
• Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, preferably in an SEMH setting.
• Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
