SEND Learning Support Assistant – Sports Coaching Experience Welcome

About the role

We are looking for a dedicated SEND Learning Support Assistant to join a SEMH school in Abbeywood, Bexley. The role starts on 2nd September and runs full‑time, 8:30 am‑4:00 pm, with a focus on supporting both academic and physical development.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in delivering tailored educational activities that address academic and emotional needs.
• Use sports and physical activities to engage students and promote social growth.
• Collaborate with the lead teacher to implement lesson plans and manage classroom dynamics.
• Provide individualized support to ensure a safe, inclusive learning environment.
• Monitor student progress, report findings, and adapt strategies as required.
• Participate in training sessions to deepen understanding of SEMH requirements.

Required profile

• Experience in sports coaching or leading physical activities with children.
• Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, preferably in a SEMH setting.
• Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Proactive problem‑solver comfortable handling challenging situations.
• Willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
