SEND Nursery Assistant – 1:1 Support for Autistic Child

About the role
We are looking for a SEND Nursery Assistant to provide one‑to‑one support for a 4‑year‑old child with autism in a vibrant, inclusive nursery in Tulse Hill, Lambeth. The role is part‑time, afternoons only, and offers the chance to help the child access play‑based learning and interact positively with peers.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver individualized support to the child during the 12:30 pm‑4:00 pm session.
- Assist the child with daily routines, communication, and social activities.
- Follow guidance and training from the SENCO and implement agreed strategies.
- Collaborate with the child’s family to ensure consistency of support.
- Maintain simple records of progress and any observations.
Required profile
- Previous experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, preferably autism.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Compassionate, patient and dedicated attitude towards early childhood development.
Required skills
- No specific technical skills required; the role focuses on interpersonal support.
