SEND Officer – Funding Model Project

About the role

We are seeking an experienced SEND Officer to join a Local Authority project delivering a new needs‑led funding model for children and young people with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). The role is project‑focused, supporting the transition to a new software system and ensuring funding decisions are accurate and evidence‑based.

Key responsibilities

• Review EHCPs to assess identified needs and current provision.
• Quality‑assure funding decisions against the new needs‑led model.
• Apply consistent, evidence‑based criteria to support funding allocations.
• Assist with the implementation and testing of the new SEND funding system.
• Collaborate with project team members and liaise with schools or educational settings as required.
• Deliver work accurately within agreed timescales and contribute to the rollout of the model across the service.

Required profile

• Proven experience working within SEND and the EHCP process.
• Strong understanding of educational needs of children and young people with SEND.
• Knowledge of mainstream and specialist educational settings.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to make consistent, evidence‑based decisions.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a project team.
• Previous experience in a Local Authority SEND environment is highly desirable.

• Day rate of £300 (inside IR35, via umbrella).
• Initial three‑month fixed‑term contract with potential extension.
• Hybrid working initially, moving to predominantly remote as the project progresses.
