SEND & SEMH Tutors (1:1 Support) – Hailsham, East Sussex

About the role

Join AP Education to deliver 1:1 alternative provision for children and young people who cannot access mainstream schooling. You will work on‑site in Hailsham, providing tailored support to learners with complex SEND and SEMH needs.

Key responsibilities

• Provide face‑to‑face 1:1 tutoring for Early Years to KS4, covering core subjects (Maths, English, Science) and SEND‑specific content.
• Implement positive behaviour management strategies and a therapeutic approach to meet individual learner needs.
• Conduct baseline academic and emotional assessments to guide targeted interventions.
• Prepare daily and weekly progress reports and liaise with external professionals such as SALT, OT, or social workers.
• Record attendance using the company’s attendance software and support transitions to mainstream or specialist settings.

Required profile

• Proven experience teaching or tutoring children with SEND/SEMH requirements.
• Background in education, youth work, or therapeutic settings.
• QTS or HLTA preferred, but two years of relevant UK experience without formal qualification is acceptable.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Compassionate, dependable, and proactive attitude.
