SEND Specialist Tutor (Gloucester)

About the role

Prospero Teaching is seeking inspirational SEND Specialist Tutors to deliver one‑to‑one tuition for young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) who are currently unable to attend mainstream school. The role involves creating and delivering tailored lessons during school hours, helping pupils re‑engage with learning and regain a structured routine.

Key responsibilities

• Design, plan and deliver 1:1 bespoke lessons that address individual learning gaps.
• Provide a supportive, structured environment to help pupils return to mainstream or special school.
• Monitor pupil progress and submit weekly reports to the organisation.
• Work part‑time (6‑15 hours per week per student) across various locations in Gloucester.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
• Experience teaching in a UK classroom setting.
• Ability to work with challenging behaviour and disengaged learners.
• Right to work in the UK and an enhanced DBS certificate (or willingness to obtain one).
• Two professional child‑related references.

Required skills

• PECS/Makaton training (preferred but not essential).
