SEND Specialist Tutor

About the role

Prospero Teaching is seeking inspirational SEND Specialist Tutors to deliver one‑to‑one tuition for young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) who cannot currently access mainstream education. The role involves creating tailored lessons, re‑engaging pupils in learning and supporting their return to school.

Key responsibilities

• Design, plan and deliver 1:1 bespoke lesson packages for each pupil.
• Monitor progress and submit weekly reports to the agency.
• Provide structure and routine during school hours, typically five days a week.
• Adapt teaching approaches to suit individual behavioural and therapeutic needs.
• Collaborate with families to schedule convenient tutoring times.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
• UK classroom teaching experience.
• Right to work in the UK and an enhanced DBS (online update service preferred).
• Two professional child‑related references.
• Creative, patient and able to think outside the box.
• Experience managing challenging behaviour and disengaged pupils.
