SEND Specialist Tutor (Part‑time)

About the role
We are seeking inspirational tutors in Reading to provide one‑to‑one support for children and young people with SEND who have become disengaged from school. The role is part‑time, runs during school hours, and aims to re‑engage pupils, restore routine, and continue their educational development.
Key responsibilities
- Create, plan and deliver tailored 1:1 lessons that bridge gaps in a pupil’s education.
- Boost attainment levels and confidence for pupils with anxiety or challenging behaviour.
- Provide structure to daily routines and support return to mainstream school where possible.
- Submit weekly progress reports to monitor each pupil’s development.
Required profile
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
- Proven UK classroom teaching experience.
- Right to work in the UK and an enhanced DBS certificate (or willingness to obtain one).
- Two professional child‑related references.
- Creative, patient and able to think outside the box when working with challenging or disengaged pupils.
Required skills
- PECS training (preferred).
- Makaton training (preferred).
What we offer
- Hourly rate starting at £25 (negotiable up to £30).
