SEND Teacher – Autism Hub (Primary School)

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated, qualified SEND Teacher to lead the specialist Autism Hub within a welcoming primary school. You will work with a small class of up to 10 pupils who have a range of additional needs, including autism, non‑verbal communication, speech and language difficulties, and developmental delay.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver high‑quality, sensory‑focused lessons for pupils with complex autism.
• Create a supportive, structured learning environment that meets diverse learner needs.
• Collaborate closely with Learning Support Assistants and other support staff within the Hub.
• Liaise with mainstream teachers to facilitate pupil integration where appropriate.
• Work with external agencies and the wider trust to enhance provision.
• Support pupils accessing mainstream lessons and wider school activities.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
• Experience teaching children or young people with SEND.
• Comprehensive knowledge and experience of working with children with autism.
• Familiarity with one or more autism‑specific approaches (Attention Autism, TEACCH, Makaton, PECS).
