SEND Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship – Level 3

About the role

We are looking for a motivated individual to join a primary and secondary school in Hackney as a SEND Teaching Assistant apprentice. You will support pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities while completing a fully funded Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification.

Key responsibilities

• Provide 1‑to‑1 and small‑group support for students with SEND, SEMH, ASD, ADHD and other learning difficulties.
• Assist with literacy, numeracy and subject‑specific interventions.
• Implement strategies from EHCPs and behaviour plans, supporting emotional regulation and engagement.
• Help teachers prepare lessons and learning resources, and run targeted revision sessions.
• Promote inclusion within the classroom and specialist provisions.

Required profile

• Commitment to an 11‑month apprenticeship.
• GCSE Maths and English at grade C/4 or higher (preferred).
• Willingness to obtain an enhanced DBS check (support provided).
• Enthusiasm for working with young people and a positive attitude; no prior school experience required.
