SEND Teaching Assistant – Full‑time (Sept 2026)

About the role

Aspire People is recruiting dedicated SEND Teaching Assistants to work in inclusive primary schools across Sefton, Aintree and Maghull from September 2026. You will support pupils with special educational needs, helping them access the curriculum and develop confidence.

Key responsibilities

• Provide targeted one‑to‑one and small‑group support to pupils with SEND in KS1 and KS2.
• Adapt lessons and use differentiated activities to ensure curriculum access.
• Collaborate with class teachers and SENDCo to implement individual support plans.
• Promote independence, positive behaviour and emotional well‑being.
• Encourage social skills and positive engagement with learning.
• Build trusting relationships and deliver consistent support.
• Work jointly with teachers, support staff, parents and external professionals.
• Foster an inclusive classroom environment where every child can thrive.

Required profile

• Previous experience supporting children with SEND or additional needs.
• Caring, patient and empathetic approach.
• Strong communication and behaviour‑management skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships and gain pupils' trust.
• Flexible, collaborative attitude within a school team.
• Commitment to inclusion, safeguarding and child welfare.
• Adaptability to different school settings and pupil needs.
• Two professional references and an Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one).
