SEND Teaching Assistant – IEP & EHCP Support (Full‑time)

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 and small‑group support for pupils with Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) across schools in Blackpool and Preston. This full‑time, term‑time position runs for the entire academic year, offering a stable environment to make a lasting impact on children’s learning journeys.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver tailored interventions that align with each pupil’s IEP/EHCP goals.
• Provide focused 1:1 and small‑group mentoring for children with ASD, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and SEMH needs.
• Assist the class teacher by adapting learning materials, managing transitions, and fostering an inclusive classroom atmosphere.
• Observe, record, and report pupil progress for IEP reviews and annual EHCP assessments.
• Collaborate closely with the class teacher and SENDCo to ensure consistent implementation of support plans.

Required profile

• Proven experience supporting children with additional needs in school or care settings.
• Strong understanding of how to read, interpret, and implement IEPs and EHCPs.
• Reliability and commitment to a full‑time, 5‑day‑a‑week schedule for the whole academic year.
• Resilient, empathetic, and able to de‑escalate challenging situations.
• Willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS check.

Required skills

• Knowledge of IEP/EHCP implementation processes.
• Ability to adapt learning resources for diverse needs.
