SEND Teaching Assistant

About the role

The Education Network is seeking a qualified Teaching Assistant to support children with additional needs in a partner school in Spennymoor. This full‑time, temporary position involves one‑to‑one work with SEND pupils and contributes to a caring, inclusive learning environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one assistance to children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
• Support the class teacher in delivering lessons and adapting activities for SEND pupils.
• Monitor pupil progress and report observations to senior staff.
• Ensure safeguarding procedures are followed at all times.
• Assist with classroom organisation and resource preparation.

Required profile

• Recognised Teaching Assistant or Nursery Nurse qualification.
• Recent experience working in a school setting.
• Proven experience delivering 1‑2‑1 support to children with SEND.
